I love the sort of things that can catch your eye here.

It was so beautiful out today and Meg & I spent the morning wandering around.

I cannot wait for summer.

I think I photograph Meg’s hands quite often, but I hope you don’t mind.

I prefer this coffee shot in full view, click on it for the full size (via my flickr)

Tonight I went with a few friends to see Alexandre Bergeron play at The Company House…I went on a bit of a whim, having never heard Alexandre before.

It was grand. My friend Luke told me on our way there that he had an amazing voice, and I still didn’t expect to hear what I heard. His voice is just really honest, his, you know? He’s got the kind of sound that holds you, focused.

You don’t want to drink your beer, let alone talk to your friends until he’s done.

I hope to hear him play again soon! And I plan to bring more friends.

(All in all, a wonderful day.)

So Lauren & Jeremy & I got together this weekend!

They have a recital coming up on the 26th and I am putting together some posters for the show. The posters themselves aren’t ready yet, but I was really happy with how the pictures turned out so I thought I might share them with you guys :)

These are the final three shots that we are trying to choose from.

(Keep in mind that the posters will all be in colour.)

I think the final text and layout will also help us decide, so my plan is to layout three designs using each of these shots and see what we like best.

I’ll let you know how it goes!

Some more fun shots from the day…

(Meg- Coffee & Studying at Just Us )

I have been doing soooo much writing this week. Three papers, one history assignment, and a radio story all yet to be finished. (But in two weeks I’ll be free for the summer!)

So I might skip out on writing much here today.

We did have some fantastic weather in Halifax this week though, so I managed to get my camera out quite a bit.

I hope you’ve had a great weekend!

My sister, Lauren.

My birthday was last Sunday! 21 years old now. This necklace was a gift from my brother who came up from NB to visit last weekend. It was really great to see him, especially since we probably won’t see each other for awhile- he moved to Toronto yesterday!

Not only was this necklace really very pretty- it’s a light peach/coral colour, and it’s so lovely- but it was actually made by one of my closest friends who is a silversmith. (Emily! Posted about her on Feb. 8th)

I thought that was really great of my brother, to pick out a wonderful gift while supporting one of my best friends at the same time.

The next two weeks are going to be extremely busy ones…essays, finals, and ironing out summer plans for employment, etc. I managed to make a bit of an escape yesterday though, and met a friend at Just Us for coffee. Afterwards I wandered down to Citadel Hill and took a few photos.

I didn’t stay as long as I’d planned to though, because it was absolutely freezing. It was one of those deceptive spring days where the sun is out and everything looks so bright and lovely, but there is actually a very chilly wind.

I’m going to try to keep slipping in “real” afternoons though.

Otherwise I might go crazy.

Oh Hello.

It’s been close to a month since my last post.

Apart from the reading break, which was honestly wonderful, the two weeks since my last post have been difficult ones.

You’d think that I’d end up focusing my attention on things that lift my spirits, like shooting photos and sharing them here. But apart from doing school work, I’ve mostly been curled up in my room.

Three things that have been making me smile, though;

-Peppermint Tea

-Aaron Sorkin

-And looking forward to my birthday! Which is less than a week away.

And the sun actually came out yesterday. So there ya go.

How are you all doing? If you were on break I hope it was lovely.

See you all next week! <3

(Side note- the photo above is of Meghan’s, one of my best friends, hands. She always wears the most interesting rings.)

And now, a pile of photos from the posts I’ve missed…

Harry and Casey

These are the two gentlemen I spent my reading break with. They can be goofballs, but the truth is that spending time with them is such a treat. I found myself missing them the first morning I woke up back in my own apartment.

Lauren and Olivia

Okay, so as much as Casey & Harry goof off, they are no rivals for these two. (Lauren, in the chair, is my twin sister and Olivia is my Godmother’s daughter.)

I miss her even more than the boys, which is saying something. She’s such a wonderful kid, and she has the best laugh- which is why I don’t blame Lauren for constantly keeping her in stitches. The five of us (H&C included) had such a fun week together.

Harry & I having fun in the snow. This edit is a bit different, what are your thoughts?

Breakfast

I liked the steam coming off of my cup in this photo. (The contrasting background is actually from the back of a black leather chair that was facing the table.)

Side note- David’s Tea is magical. My current favourites are North African Mint, Lemon Meringue Pie and Read My Lips. You can thank me later.

Lauren

This is shot of my twin sister, which I sort of just took off offhandedly while we were waiting in line for coffee. She doesn’t wear hats too often, and I thought it looked cute on her. (Doesn’t she have the best smile?)

This was from the day we played in the snow :)

King’s Square.
To kick off reading week I went home to Saint John for the weekend with my twin sister and one of our best friends, Meg. We had such a great time :) This is a shot of Meg walking in King’s Square. (Just moments earlier she’d been rolling around in the snow, the goofball.)
We got back to Halifax last night, and in a few hours I’m heading to Bedford. My Godparents live there and I’m going to spend the week with their daughter Olivia while they’re away. Olivia is ten going on thirty five (she’s so bright) and she is a lot of fun to be around. Just an all around great kid, you know? I’ll also be watching their two black labs, Casey and Harry, who are wonderful, so it’s going to be a pretty great week. As a stock photo today I thought I’d upload a picture of them. This second shot is from a snow day we had last year :)
This is a film shot, I have a Canon EOS 3000N that I really don’t use enough.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! And if you’re off this week, enjoy it :) I plan to.

Tea
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
This wonderful teacup is part of a set that was given to me as a Valentine’s gift last year. I thought it would be fitting to break them out this morning and take a few photos.
(Earl Grey, mmm.)
Appropriately enough, my stock upload this week is a picture of my Valentine.

This was taken at Peggy’s Cove, in August :)
On Friday I am going home for the weekend, so hopefully next Monday I can post something from visiting family/friends.
Hope you all have a great Valentine’s Day! And a lovely week.

Emily
This is my wonderful friend Emily.
She came to Halifax this weekend for a jewelry wholesale show (Emily is a silversmith!) and we managed to squeeze in a few visits while she was in town. We were sitting on my bed catching up when I snapped this. At first I thought the middle-of-talking-ness made this picture a bit too awkward, but it’s grown on me.
What do you think?
(Fun fact! I made the scarf that Emily is wearing in this picture. It’s a dark purple, and I’m quite proud of it)
Exciting news! I got a new lens this weekend. My brother was nice enough to order me a prime for Christmas, but it had to be picked up at the US border, so it took awhile to make its way to Halifax. But it’s here! And I am loving it already.
Also, I’ve decided that for the next few weeks I’m going to upload a new photo AND a stock photo. I think it will help to fill this up and keep things interesting as I’m just getting started.
Which brings us to!

Kirsten’s Tree
My closest friend from high school is in her third year at Acadia, and this is a picture I took of her favourite tree on campus. (Kirsten is currently on exchange in Freiburg, Germany, and blogging about her adventures.)
I hope you all had a lovely weekend :)

Lauren. (Film)
This my twin sister Lauren.
Her room definitely wasn’t as dark as it looks here, I think facing the window just gave that effect. It wasn’t intentional, but I love how it worked out.
My plan is to upload a shot or two every Monday! I’ll try my best to upload only material I’ve shot within the previous week. (This shot is from last spring, but I’ll keep away from stock photos, I promise.)
I’m hoping a project like this will get me shooting more. And provide an opportunity for feedback! Please feel free to share thoughts/advice, I’d love to hear it.
See you next week :)
